A drink driver has crashed a car in Woomera early this morning.
Just before 12.30am on Friday 22 November, police were called to Coolaroo Street after reports that a white Mitsubishi utility collided into a tree.
Police will allege the driver took the utility from a local hotel without permission. The 20-year-old man from Greenwith, submitted to a breath test and recorded a positive result of 0.146 – nearly three times the legal limit.
Further checks revealed the driver held a provisional licence requiring him to have a zero alcohol limit. The man was reported for drink driving, driving disqualified, driving without due care and illegal use. He was also issued with a 12 month immediate loss of licence. He will be summonsed to appear in the Roxby Downs Magistrate Court at a later date.
Police are currently conducting Operation High Impact F5; targeting the fatal five offences of drink and drug driving, speeding, distraction, seatbelts and dangerous road users.
The operation began at 12:01am Thursday 14 November 2019 and will end at 11:59pm Wednesday 11 December 2019.
