Man arrested running from crash in Paralowie

11 Jul 2024 7:06am

A man has been arrested after attempting to run from a crash at Paralowie overnight.

Just before 3.15 am, Thursday 11 July, Salisbury patrols were travelling west on Kings Road Bolivar when they sighted a gold Holden doing burnouts at the Kings Road and Bolivar Road intersection.

Witnesses told police the same vehicle was overtaking traffic on the wrong side of Kings Road before sliding and crashing into a roundabout at the intersection of Whites Road. Patrols performed a U-turn and located the vehicle, crashed into a stobie pole near the roundabout and the driver had left the scene.

PD Axe was called in to assist with a search of the driver, and tracked a scent on Thorngate Drive, through a riverbank where he was located. He was arrested by patrols shortly after.

A subsequent search of the vehicle located numerous keys to other vehicles and registration plates that did not match the vehicle. Checks also revealed the driver did not hold a current drivers licence.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Paralowie sustained minor injuries from the crash. He was charged with misuse motor vehicle, driving without due care, driving unlicenced, unlawful possession and breaching his curfew bail. He was refused police bail and will attend the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
