Police have reported seven drivers committing traffic offences in the Limestone Coast region over the long weekend.
Just after 4pm on Friday 5 June, a 31-year-old Limestone Coast woman was stopped driving a Ford sedan on Rolland Street, Naracoorte. She was submitted to a roadside drug test and allegedly returned a positive result to cannabis and methamphetamine. She was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may face further charges pending results of a forensic analysis.
Just before 8pm on Friday, a Hyundai sedan was detected travelling at 155km/h in a 100km/h speed zone on the Princes Highway at Wandilo. The driver, an 18-year-old Mount Gambier man, was found to be the holder of a P2 licence. He was subsequently reported for aggravated excessive speed and was issued a six-month instant loss of licence.
At 8.30pm on Saturday 6 June, a 32-year-old Bordertown man was stopped by police on Naracoorte Road, Bordertown. He was breath tested and allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.054. He was reported for drink driving and his vehicle was clamped by police for 28 days.
An 18-year-old Moorak man was reported by police after he was detected travelling at 135km/h in a 110km/h speed zone on the Riddoch Highway, Struan just after 11pm on Saturday. The provisional licence holder allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.170. He was reported for drink driving, aggravated driving without due care, excessive speed, and contravening provisional licence conditions. He was issued with a twelve-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
At 1.40am on Sunday 7 June, police stopped a Holden sedan on Penola Road, Mount gambier and submitted the driver to a breath test. He allegedly produced a blood alcohol reading of 0.101. A 40-year-old Mount Gambier man was reported for exceed drink driving and issued with a six-month instant loss of licence.
Just before 3.30pm on Sunday, a 46-year-old Millicent woman was stopped on Beach Road, Beachport after checks revealed her licence to be disqualified. She was reported for the offence.
A 48-year-old Naracoorte woman was stopped on Robertson Street at Naracoorte just after 12pm on Monday 8 June. She was submitted to a drug test and allegedly returned a positive result to methamphetamine. She was issued with a three-month instant loss of licence and may face further charges pending the results of a forensic analysis.
All reported drivers will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
