Hoon driver caught in Mount Compass

A man will appear in court after being caught drink driving in Mount Compass yesterday afternoon.

Just after 3pm on Wednesday 10 July, patrols were called to George Francis Drive after reports of a white VY Commodore driving erratically and doing burnouts.

Patrols arrived on scene however the car had left the area.  Police were making further enquiries when the white Commodore drove past them on George Francis Road.  Patrols followed the car and stopped it a short distance away on Sand Mine Road where they spoke to the driver.

The driver, a 34-year-old local man submitted to a breath test where he provided a positive result of 0.188 – almost four times over the legal limit.

The high range drink driver was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence and his vehicle was impounded.  He was reported for drink driving and misuse of a motor vehicle and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
