29 Feb 2020 6:07pm

Two men have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and the aggravated assault of an elderly man that occurred at Murray Bridge overnight.

Police will allege during the early hours of Saturday 29 February, the elderly victim engaged in communication with one of the arrested men via a social app.

After later meeting at a Murray Bridge home, the victim was allegedly bound and then assaulted by the two men, who used a taser, a drill and threatened the victim with a hatchet  while demanding money.

Murray Bridge Police were alerted to the incident at about 8am this morning, after the victim managed to escape his captures.

Late this afternoon Murray Bridge Detectives attended a local address, arresting the two men and also locating a taster, drill, hatchet and duct tape allegedly used in the offence.

The two men aged 36 and 20-years-old from Murray Bridge have been charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.  They have both been refused police bail and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday 2 March.

The victim fortunately only received superficial  injuries from the incident.
