Three arrests over Ward Belt caravan fire

Overnight, Barossa Police made three arrests following an investigation into a caravan fire at Ward Belt last month.

About 8.30pm on Tuesday 22 October, police and emergency services were called to Ward Belt Road at Ward Belt after reports of a caravan on fire.

The occupants of the caravan were inside when they heard something land on the roof.  They went out to investigate when they saw the roof on fire.

The victims attempted to put out the fire but were unsuccessful.  MFS crews attended and extinguished the blaze which destroyed the caravan.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries.

Barossa Local Service Area crime scene officers and detectives attended and examined the scene.

Three suspects were arrested overnight by Barossa CIB detectives and charged with arson and acts to endanger life.

The three men, aged 43 from Elizabeth Park, 23 from Parafield Gardens and 18 from Gawler West, did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
