Three arrested after crop located Virginia

Three people have been arrested after police uncovered thousands of cannabis plants at Virginia this morning.

Just after 9am Saturday 29 February Northern District police attended an address on Penfield Road after receiving information cannabis plants were allegedly growing at the property.

When police arrived three people ran from the scene. Patrols quickly set up cordons while police dogs PD Ben and PD Zeus were called in to assist with the search. Three men were located nearby and have been arrested.

Police searched the property and have located a large number of cannabis plants growing in greenhouses. Although the investigation is in its early stages police believe they have located approximately 3000 plants and a large amount of dried cannabis.

Crime Scene officers are at the scene to assist, police will remain at the property for the coming days to continue the investigation.

The three men, a 53-year-old, 25-year-old and a 26-year-old are expected to be charged with cultivate a large commercial quantity of controlled plant and drug trafficking. The men will be refused bail and appear in court on Monday 2 March.
