A motorcyclist has died after a crash at Inglewood this afternoon.

Just before 3.30pm on Tuesday 19 September, emergency services were called to North East Road at Inglewood following reports a motorbike rider failed to negotiate a bend and lost control of the bike.  The rider fell from the bike and collided with a Holden Astra.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and emergency services the motorbike rider, a 41-year-old man from Gawler East, died at the scene.

The driver of the Holden, a 30-year-old woman from Woodville and her passenger were not injured as a result of the crash.

North East Road at Inglewood was blocked to all traffic for about four hours while Major Crash officers examined the scene but has since re-opened.

The man's death is the 81st life lost on South Australian roads this year compared to 54 at the same time last year.
