Fatal crash at West Beach

A man has died following a crash at West Beach this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Northern Avenue, West Beach following reports of a two-car crash between a Nissan sedan and Nissan 4WD just before 2.30pm on Saturday 1 May.

The sedan driver, an 89-year-old West Beach man, was seriously injured in the crash and rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Sadly, he died a short time later.
The driver of the 4WD, a 61-year-old man from Toorak Gardens, was not injured but taken to hospital for observation.

Northern Avenue was closed to all traffic between Indian Avenue and Formosa Avenue while police investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash, but has now been reopened.

The man's death is the 41st life lost on SA roads compared with 37 at the same time last year.
