Cockatoo Valley road fatality identified

The driver who died in a fatal crash at Cockatoo Valley on Tuesday has been identified as a local man.

The single vehicle collision occurred on Williamstown Road, Cockatoo Valley just before 1.30pm on Tuesday 13 February.  A Hyundai hit a tree, burst into flames and sparked a grass fire in an adjacent paddock.

Major Crash officers attended the scene to examine the circumstances of the collision.

The deceased has been identified as a 36-year-old Lyndoch man.

The local man's death is the 10th life lost on South Australian roads so far this year.

Police thank the members of the public who stopped at the scene to try to render assistance.
