Update II: Serious assault near Tintinara

A woman will be charged following an aggravated assault near Tintinara this morning.

About 6.45am Friday 14 January emergency services were called to the Dukes Highway near Judd Road after the driver of a taxi reported that he had been stabbed by his female passenger.

The 30-year-old victim managed to get out of the car, taking the keys to immobilise the vehicle and was helped by several truckies who stopped to assist.

When police arrived at the scene the suspect, a 41-year-old Prospect woman, was still inside the taxi, she was arrested. The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital then transferred to the RAH, his injuries are serious but not believed to be life threatening.

The woman was taken to the RAH for a medical assessment and has been detained under the Mental Health Act. She has been charged (in her absence) with assault cause serious harm and refused bail.

The taxi was towed from the scene to be forensically examined.
