Update: Man arrested for Andamooka murder

A man has been arrested and charged with murder following the death of man at Andamooka in the State's far north earlier today.

Police were first alerted to the incident just before 1pm on Friday 8 November, after a 77-year-old man from Andamooka was rushed to Roxby Hospital with stab wounds. Sadly he died shortly after arrival.

A 59-year-old man also from Andamooka suspected of being involved in the incident was also taken to the Roxby Downs Hospital for medical treatment has since been arrested and charged with murder.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch and Forensic Examiners have travelled to Andamooka to assist police from the region in relation to the investigation.

Police have located and cordoned off a crime scene in Bartram Street Andamooka.

No one else is being sought in connection with the incident at this time, with both men were known to each other.

The man is expected to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on Monday.
