A man has been charged after a dog was killed at Hampstead Gardens in the early hours of Tuesday.
Just before 1.30am on Tuesday 10 July, police patrols attended a home on North East Road following reports of a disturbance.
On arrival, patrols located a mutilated dog inside the premises.
The sole occupant of the home, a 19-year-old man from Hampstead Gardens, was arrested and detained under the Mental Health Act.
He has subsequently been charged with ill treatment to cause death or serious harm to an animal, property damage and carry offensive weapon.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
A second dog which was uninjured, was also found at the home and taken away by the local council.
Eastern District CIB Detectives are investigating the incident with RSPCA also being notified.
