Man arrested over serious assault at Parafield Gardens

A man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked another man with a meat cleaver at Parafield Gardens overnight.

Just after 2am on Wednesday 15 May, police were called to a house in Morgan Street after a man armed with a meat cleaver broke into a granny flat at the rear of the premises and attacked the occupant.  As a result of the assault, the victim, a 39-year-old man received a deep laceration to the face and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Northern District Police patrols arrived shortly after the incident and spoke to the male suspect who lives in the main house at same address.  The man was armed with a knife and initially threatened police patrols, but after some negotiation the offender was arrested without incident.

A 27-year-old man from Parafield Gardens has been charged with aggravated assault cause serious harm, two counts of aggravated assault and aggravated serious criminal trespass.

He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
