Man arrested after truck stolen at Semaphore Park

16 May 2019 11:11am

A Royal Park man has been arrested for numerous offences after he allegedly stole a tip truck from Semaphore Park this morning.

Just before 8.30am on Thursday 16 May, a man was sitting in his Isuzu tip truck in Grebe Street, when he was  approached by the male suspect who verbally threatened the driver forcing from him the vehicle, then driving off in the truck.

Moments later a nearby police patrol spotted the stolen truck on Bower Road, where it was pursued for a short distance before it stopped in traffic at the intersection of Bower Road and Causeway Road at Ethelton.

The male suspect ran from the vehicle along a bike track but was apprehended by police patrols a short distance way.

A 33-year-old man from Royal Park has been charged with robbery, fail to stop, driving while disqualified and breaching his home detention.

He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

There were no injuries or damage to any vehicles and no weapons used in the incident.
