Driver crashes into gates at southern suburbs police station

15 May 2019 6:28am

Police have arrested a woman after she drove a stolen car into gates at Christies Beach Police Station.

Just before 12pm (midnight) on Tuesday 14 May, a woman driving a stolen Mitsubishi sedan crashed into the rear access gates at the police station before stopping outside a roller door.  On hearing the crash, station staff investigated and found the woman still in the driver's seat talking incoherently.  CCTV showed the woman stop prior to driving into the gates.

She was removed and taken to the Noarlunga Hospital for a mental health assessment and to be treated for a minor head injury.

The 26-year-old woman from Sellicks Hill was discharged a short time later into police custody and has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, property damage and unlawfully on premises.

She has been refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates later today.

The Mitsubishi sedan was stolen from a Hackham address a short time prior to the incident.
