16 Mar 2023 7:12am

A man was arrested after police spotted a stolen car travelling at extreme speed in the city overnight.

About 12.45am on Thursday 16 March, a patrol saw a Toyota RAV4 speeding through a red light on Anzac Highway at about 150 km/h before heading into the city.

The car continued travelling at speed through the city onto Henley Beach Road where PolAir picked up and tracked the vehicle.

It then continued at about 140 km/h to travel along Grange Road before the vehicle stopped at Mill Street, Findon.

Police surrounded the area and the driver, a 30-year-old Findon man, was arrested without incident.

The RAV4 had been reported stolen from Brighton on Tuesday.

The arrested man was charged with illegal use, aggravated extreme speed, drive unlicensed, driving under the influence, drive with unassigned plates and possess housebreaking implement.

He was issued with a 12 month instant loss of licence and refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

The car was towed for forensic examination.
