Driver arrested after northern suburbs pursuit

Police have arrested a man following a brief pursuit overnight at Paralowie.

Just before 4am, Thursday 23 June, patrols spotted a Subaru sedan speed off along Liberator Drive before turning into several side streets and onto Bolivar Road. Police pursued the car back into side streets until the driver slowed down and jumped out near the intersection of Reynolds Drive and Niven Drive before running off. He was arrested a short distance away while the Subaru rolled into the fence of a house causing minor damage.

The 22-year-old from Burton, has been charged with dangerous driving to escape police, drive unlicenced and carry offensive weapon after a wooden baton was located in the car. He did not apply for bail and is expected to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.

Investigations are continuing with the owner of the Subaru to determine if it was stolen.
