A southern suburbs man was arrested over the weekend for child sex offences.

On Saturday 6 July following an investigation, detectives from the Public Protection Branch arrested a 46-year-old man and charged him with make a child amenable to sexual activity, disseminate child exploitation material, possess child exploitation material and breach of reporting obligations.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court today, Monday, 8 July.

This arrest came as a result of a referral from the Joint Anti child Exploitation Team (JACET), a joint team between the Australian Federal Police and South Australia Police.

Detective Chief Inspector Naomi Oberscheidt from the Public Protection Branch said; "Police urge anyone in the community who needs to access support in relation to child abuse or exploitation to visit the ACCCE website – www.accce.gov.au - for a full list of available support services with contact details.

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au or 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report. If you know abuse is happening right now or a child is at risk, call police immediately on triple zero (000) or 131444."
