A man has been arrested following the discovery of an extensive hydroponic cannabis grow facility in Wingfield.
About 8.30pm on Wednesday 8 September, after receiving information from a member of the public via Crime Stoppers, police had cause to enter and search an industrial premises on George Street at Wingfield. They located a large hydroponic cannabis set-up in three large industrial cool rooms, 16 cannabis plants and approximately 6kg of dried cannabis.
Police re-attended the premises on Thursday 9 September and seized equipment used to grow and dry cannabis. They attended an address in Sturt and arrested a 47-year-old man residing there in relation to the grow house. A search of the house resulted in the discovery of dried cannabis and evidence indicative of drug cultivation.
The man has been charged with traffic in a large commercial quantity of cannabis, cultivate cannabis and possess prescribed equipment. He has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday 10 September.
