Update: Body found at West Beach

04 Aug 2022 5:45pm

Western District Police are preparing a report for the State Coroner following the discovery of a man's body at the West Beach boat ramp this morning.

Police were called to the boat ramp at 6am this morning (Thursday 4 August), following a report of two vehicles in the water.  It is believed the vehicles entered the water sometime overnight.

Detectives from Western District CIB along with Water Operations Unit and Forensic Response officers, attended the scene after the body of a 54-year-old man from the Northern Territory, was found in the driver's seat of a Toyota 4WD. The other vehicle, a partially submerged Mitsubishi 4WD, was unoccupied.

Investigators subsequently attended a cabin in an adjacent caravan park and spoke with the owner of the Mitsubishi.

There are no suspicious circumstances and no criminal offences have been disclosed at this time.

Anyone who attended the boat ramp overnight or has any information that may assist police, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au
