UPDATE: Man arrested for robberies

05 Feb 2020 7:18am

Police have arrested a man following an aggravated robbery at a Blair Athol service station yesterday morning.

At 6am on Tuesday 4 February, a man entered the service station on Main North Road and attempted to pay for goods with a debit card.  His debit card declined and he produced a large knife and demanded cash.

The suspect stole cash, lollies and drinks before leaving on foot. He was last seen walking down Warwick Street.

Fortunately no one was physically injured during the incident.

Western District patrols including a police dog patrol searched the area, but the suspect has not been located.

Just before 9pm on the same night (Tuesday 4 February), a man armed with a knife entered a supermarket on Hampstead Road and threatened staff, before stealing cash and other groceries before running out of the store.

Extra patrols were called to the area including a police dog, and the suspect was located in nearby Browning Street.

Following an investigation, a 23-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with both aggravated robberies.  He was refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 5 February).
