Four arrested in Ceduna operation

Eyre and Western police have conducted an operation in the Ceduna declared shopping precinct.

Between Thursday 4 June and Friday 5 June, Police from Ceduna, Port Lincoln and Whyalla conducted numerous metal detector searches in the Ceduna CBD and foreshore area.

The aim of the operation to focus on proactive policing by the use of wanding, high-visibility police presence and engagement with members of the public.

As a result of metal detector searches, four people were arrested and charged with numerous offences.

  • A 35-year-old man from Yalata was arrested for disorderly behaviour in a declared shopping precinct. He was granted bail to appear in the Ceduna Magistrates Court at a later date.
  • A 49-year-old man from Oak Valley was arrested after returning to the precinct within 24-hours of being trespassed.
  • Two other Ceduna men were arrested for other outstanding matters.

Police are authorised to conduct metal detector searches in declared shopping precincts, aiming to deter threats and maintain public safety.
