New teams to strengthen frontline services in metro area

Commencing today, 26 March 2020, the District Policing Model will be fully implemented across SAPOL’s four metropolitan Districts.

A key part of this model is the creation of Response and District Policing Teams who will work together to build a highly visible, accessible and consistent presence across the Adelaide metropolitan area.

Response Teams will focus on attending to urgent police attendance matters whilst District Policing Teams will be assigned to every metropolitan suburb and will get to know their community and apply a problem solving approach to address causes of demand on police services.

This focus on the causes of crime and disorder will help to prevent the re-attendance of patrols to recurring problems. District Policing Teams are a significant expansion of the existing, highly successful neighbourhood policing teams.

During times of peak demand on police services the District Policing Teams will support the Response Teams.
