Welcoming 13 new Protective Security Officers

Protective Security Services Branch has welcomed a further 13 Protective Security Officers (PSOs), following a graduation ceremony on Friday, 22 May 2020.

The Protective Security Officer Qualification Program is a comprehensive nine-week training program conducted at the South Australia Police Academy. Training for Physical Security Section PSOs includes legislative authorities and operational safety, including firearms and active armed offender training.  The Security Control Centre PSOs undertake training in Computer Aided Despatch call taking, monitoring alarms and CCTV systems.

One new graduate will commence as a Security Control Centre PSO, with the remaining 12 new graduates deployed to Physical Security Section.

Protective Security Officers provide a range of security services to the public sector, including the provision of protective security services to nominated South Australian Government critical infrastructure sites and high-risk assets, key government building within the CBD, and state-owned assets across metropolitan Adelaide. The Police Security Services Branch also provides a whole of government alarm monitoring service, as well as CCTV across the Adelaide CBD and major transport corridors.

We congratulate and welcome our new Protective Security Officers.
