Firearms clubs, licences & registration

Strict rules apply to the possession of firearms and the operation of firearms clubs.

To register a firearm you must first be licensed.

Fees and charges

As of 1st July 2011 all fees and charges relating to firearms licensing, registration and weapons will increase.

Firearms fees and charges are GST exempt.

The new fees are as follows:

Service Fee (from 1 July 2011)
Application for firearms licence or renewal

1 year term:   $72.00

3 year term: $187.00

5 year term: $297.00

Application for firearms collector's licence or renewal

1 year term:   $72.00

3 year term: $187.00

5 year term: $297.00

Application for firearms licence to possess a prescribed firearm

$57.00

Application for/renewal of firearms dealer's licence authorising dealing in firearms or firearms and ammunition

1 year term:  $371.00

3 year term:  $1,078.00

5 year term:  $1,790.00

Application for/renewal of firearms dealer's licence authorising dealing in ammunition only

1 year term:   $109.00

3 year term: $297.00

5 year term: $487.00

Application for variation of licence

$44.00

Application for registration of firearm or duplicate certificate of registration

$27.00

Application for licence to replace licence lost, stolen, or destroyed

$44.00

Application for ammunition permit

$27.00

Fee to witness the transfer of a firearm under Part 3 Division 2A of the Act

Administrative fee on late renewal of a licence

Exempt person declaration- Dangerous articles and prohibited weapons
