Crime Stoppers

Crime Stoppers is an initiative that sees the police, media and the community working together to help solve and prevent crime. The South Australian program is very successful, with an apprehension rate of one arrest for every seven calls received.

Crime Stoppers actively seeks your help in providing information about criminals, their activities and 'target crimes' that are featured in the media.

If you know anything about any criminal activity or unsolved crime you can call Crime Stoppers on:

1 800 333 000

24 hours a day seven days a week (calls to this number are free, except from mobile phones). Alternatively you may make an electronic report via the Crime Stoppers web site www.sa.crimestoppers.com.au

If English is not your first language, interpreters are available. Just say 'Interpreter' and tell the operator the language you speak and they will connect you to an interpreter.

You can remain anonymous if you wish.

Rewards

You may be eligible for a reward if your information leads to the report or arrest of an offender or the solving of a crime. Rewards range from $50 upwards depending on the severity of the crime, the number of offenders caught and the offences cleared up.

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has now joined with South Australia Police and Crime Stoppers to help identify and convict arsonists. There are individual rewards of up to $25,000 for information leading to the conviction for arson of any person for destroying or damaging property insured by a member company of ICA or other participating insurance companies.
