The Communications Branch is involved the provision of assistance to the community in personal emergencies and the coordination and management of emergency incidents. Therefore Communications Branch is constantly active in:- - Providing a 24 hour information service.
- Responding promptly to calls for assistance or support.
- Coordinating police response to incidents and recording incident progression and police activity.
- Providing a high level of service that takes into account customer needs and officer safety.

Call TakingCommunications Branch handles inbound telephone calls including 000 and police enquiry calls, Hotlines from other emergency services, collision towing requirements and alarm activation reports. DispatchingCommunications Branch provides a 24 hour / 7 day a week radio communications network (data, paging and voice) to the Adelaide metropolitan area as well as radio communications state wide. Patrol coordination management and the prioritisation of incident despatch are part of the service levels given. Service RequestsCommunications Branch provides a support to patrol staff in their need to incorporate information or other agency / unit assistance. Coordination of ResourcesOccurs at several levels within Communications Branch, and involves the activation of specialist units both from within SAPOL as well as many external agencies. |
