The Mid West Local Service Area (LSA) is the smallest geographical sized country service area, with a centralised population base in the Provincial City of Whyalla. The rural centres of Cowell, Cleve, Kimba and Iron Knob form the 'out-station' components of the area. Since 1999, Whyalla has been recognised as one of SAPOL's principal training areas for newly graduated Probationary Constables. This has meant a real change in their focus on delivery and development practices. The real positives are the enthusiasm and commitment of the members during their tenure within the LSA and the self-development opportunities for the more senior members. |
