Sturt Local Service Area

The LSA area response covers 224 square kilometres and encompasses the western suburbs districts from the Torrens River in the north to the Field River in the south and the eastern boundary extends up to Eagle on the Hill. Two major patrol bases (Sturt Police Complex) located at Sturt Road Bedford Park and (Netley Police Complex) Marion Road Netley service this area. There are also 3 satellite stations of Glenelg, Hallett Cove and Malvern as well as a police office within the Westfield Marion Shopping Complex.

The headquarter station of the Sturt Local Service Area is located in the Sturt Police Complex located at 333 Sturt Road Bedford Park. The services include Crime Scene, Crime Prevention, CIB, Operations and Events Planning as well as Intelligence and other support services. The Metropolitan Operations Service including the Assistant Commissioner SOS, responsible for the southern region of South Australia also operates from this building.

The Glenelg entertainment and foreshore region are recognised both interstate as well as overseas as one of the premier coastal tourist attractions within South Australia attracting over 2.4 million visitors every year. Well known events within the Sturt LSA include New Years Eve at the Bay which attracts in excess of 40,000 persons, and the major events at the Adelaide Show Grounds including the Royal Adelaide Show, The Big Day Out and other major community and touring events. The Adelaide Cup is an annual event held at the Morphettville Racecourse and attracts in excess of 30,000 persons.

The LSA incorporates the local government areas of Holdfast Bay, Marion, Unley, Mitcham, West Torrens and parts of the Onka Paringa council districts. Within the Sturt LSA members provide policing service to more than 390,000 residents.
